Since our blog debuted in 2017, we have published 500+ posts. While some of you may have been with us from the start (thank you, loyal readers!), others may have joined us more recently.
So, we’re highlighting periodically some of the posts that have garnered a lot of views or that address topics of continuing interest in the current moment — posts that you may have missed or that you might want to revisit.
Today, as we look forward to the launch of the 2025 48-Hour Film Challenge on Friday March 28, we take a look back at the winners of the 2024 event in “Watch Out, Hollywood!” as reported by Michele Janette.
Last year’s three required elements —
- line: “I’d agree with you, but then we’d both be wrong”
- setting: a body of water
- prop: a Royal Purple Yearbook
— inspired creativity in all eight teams.
As 2024 best comedy winner Rylan Jackson (BA ’26) remarked, “It was surprising just how difficult it was to complete the film within 48 hours, but it let me see how a larger, more diverse audience would react to my work, which was really meaningful for me. It was the thrilling pinnacle of my semester, and one of my all-time favorite nights at K-State.”
What short films will this year’s challenge bring? Find out at the Red Carpet celebration on Friday, April 4 at Union Wildcat Chamber — and, if you’re a student, consider signing up to create a film for this year’s event!
