Object: Flowering Tree
Observations: 1) This magnolia tree, which sits behind the ECS Building and near the window of the Writing Center, often marks the change of seasons for us in English. Today, on the first day of spring, it is suddenly in bloom. 2) With K-State on limited operations in response to the novel coronavirus, the campus is unusually quiet during a week that should be bustling with post-spring break activity. Its blooms, however, remind us not only of other springs but also moments of beauty and the future ahead, even during turbulent times. 3) Happy Spring to all, from our current socially distanced location to yours, as we look forward to finding ways to maintain community in the weeks ahead!
