Object: Podcast episodes featuring visiting writers at Kansas State
Observations: 1) From 2013 through 2016, graduate students, undergraduate students, and faculty members interviewed writers who visited K-State as part of our annual Visiting Writers Series with the intention of launching a podcast. The interviews captured authors who were already well-established as well as those who were just starting to get recognized for their work, ranging from Victor LaValle to Natalie Diaz to Roxanne Gay. 2) In 2016, James (Hunter) Gilson (BA ’14, MA ’16) prepared the audio files for publication and posted them to SoundCloud to realize that initial goal. 3) Time passed, a global pandemic happened, and we’ve now rediscovered the login information and renewed our membership as we get ready to enter the (much more crowded) podcasting arena once again.

Observations: 1) Established in 1975, Touchstone serves as the student-edited literary arts magazine for Kansas State University and is sponsored by the Department of English. 2) This year, Touchstone’s editorial team plans to add a podcast alongside its publication of student work. Stay tuned for the first episodes, posted to the department’s SoundCloud account later this fall. 3) In the meantime, travel back to 2013-2016 and listen to interviews with a number of great writers.
