Found Object: Collaborative Story

Location: 2nd Floor, English Counseling Services Building
Object: Whiteboard
Observations: 1) After several Covid years which kept folks on Zoom more than in the ECS Building, the 2nd floor of ECS is hopping this fall semester.  Part of that energy includes the interactive space of the whiteboard that has been hanging out on the 2nd floor. 2) Some days, the white board has asked, “What is your favorite season?” (fall and spring were doing well when the poll closed), while another week it asked whether we would prefer to be rich in money and material goods or to be rich in friends and happiness. There was also a question about brownies v. blondies and one about our favorite fruit flavor (watermelon was a somewhat divisive choice). 3) This week, a different request: “Write a story with me! Add one sentence.” So far, we’re learning about Doug, a black stallion with special talents, and Doug’s best friend, Steve, has just made an appearance. 4) This story is almost over, given the space remaining, but we look forward to what the whiteboard will ask next — and to future community moments in ECS!
