Poets on the Plains

In her role as Kansas Poet Laureate, Traci Brimhall is launching Poets on the Plains. Produced by High Plains Public Radio (HPPR), the series will explore a sense of people and place through poetry.

I love poetry on the page, but I also love hearing it spoken aloud. That is, after all, its origin as an art form. And I’m glad that radio producers agree!

I’ve worked with producer Kathleen Holt for months now recruiting poets in Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colorado, and here in Kansas to share poetry from their states. I’m glad that High Plains Public Radio listeners will get to hear and learn more about poets who might live just around the corner…or across the plains!

Starting in April, feel free to tune in at the 11:00 CT hour during “High Plains Morning” and HPPR’s Morning Edition or check out Poets on the Plains online to listen to past segments.
