Meet the Grad Students

A new feature for our Graduate Studies webpages as of Spring 2019: “Meet the Grad Students.”

With the flowering tree behind the English Counseling Services Building finally in bloom, the Graduate Program in English at K-State has been inspired to give our webpages a bit of a spring clean.

Thanks to the help of this year’s phenomenal program assistant, Maddie Pospisil (M.A. ’19), we’ve added a new feature: “Meet the Graduate Students.” Designed to give prospective students a flavor of our program and the graduate student community that they’ll join, “Meet the Graduate Students” introduces a representative selection of first- and second-year M.A. students from across our five Tracks: Literature, Children’s Literature, Composition and Rhetoric, Creative Writing, and Cultural Studies.

The seven students featured describe themselves and their experience in the program in their own words, giving an authentic insight into the lives and interests — both academic and personal — of our remarkable graduate community.

We hope “Meet the Graduate Students” will help prospective students and applicants begin to imagine themselves in our program and encourage them to contact the department if they’d like to be put in direct communication with a current Master’s student.

Years of exit interviews and alumni surveys suggest that our graduate students enjoy an exceptional experience in our program. Who better, then, to spread the word about our M.A. program than our students themselves?

The M.A. program in English at K-State has some limited GTA funding still available for Fall 2019. If you’re interested in applying, please visit to meet some of our current graduate students, learn about coursework for each track, and the application process.
