Congratulations to Liberty Belote (BA ’23) on recent international travel for K-State Debate!
Liberty and British Parliamentary Debate partner Kate Thomas traveled to Madrid, Spain, to take part in the World Universities Debating Championship, December 27, 2022 through January 4, 2023.

Participating in the largest international debating tournament was both exciting and challenging.
“The best part was that we were never alone in these extremely formative learning experiences,” as Liberty explained in a recent news release: “We made friends with people from a variety of different backgrounds who were making their own adjustments to fit the tournament style and learning more about our perspectives as much as we learned about theirs.”
In addition to participating in debates, Liberty and Kate also enjoyed exploring Madrid.

“Through this opportunity, I was able to meet people from across the globe and encounter a world of new experiences,” Liberty reflected, adding, “I was immersed in new ideas and learned about others’ lives through the activity of debate.”
