Lillianna Lamagna (BA ’25) and Abi Whitney (BA ’24) at the Fall Undergraduate Open House (5 Oct 2023)
The change to cooler weather ushered in the English Department’s annual Fall Undergraduate Open House, held on October 5. English Majors and Minors and Film Studies and Linguistics Certificate Earners treated themselves to salty and sweet snacks, Halloween candies, Varsity donuts, and stickers as they gathered with English professors and advisors to learn about upcoming Spring 2024 courses, a summer study abroad opportunity to Costa Rica with Dr. Elizabeth Dodd, research and internship opportunities, and English student organizations.

Liberty Belote (BA ’24) enthusiastically talked about their research experiences, while Abi Whitney (BA ’24) excitedly shared ways to get involved with Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society, including their upcoming “scary” grad school applications and Dracula adaptations hang out on Monday, October 23.

Dr. Michelle Janette talked about her upcoming courses: ENGL 355 “Film” (a survey of key cinema) and ENGL 388 “Asian American Literatures” (featuring cool science fiction), while I talked about my upcoming course: ENGL 324 “Television” (which engages the height of streaming and the turn to cinematic TV). Check out the full list of English courses for Spring 2024 to learn more about these and other fabulous courses.

And three lucky winners — Ver Fuentes-Lopez (BA ’27, Open Option), Val Kollar (BA ’26), and Lillianna Lamagna (BA ’25) — received a Radina’s gift certificate from our entry raffle.
