From the Archive: Alumni in Children’s Literature

Since our blog debuted in 2017, we have published 500+ posts.  While some of you may have been with us from the start (thank you, loyal readers!), others may have joined us more recently.

So, we’re highlighting periodically some of the posts that have garnered a lot of views or that address topics of continuing interest in the current moment — posts that you may have missed or that you might want to revisit.

Today, while admissions season for Fall 2026 is in full swing, we look back to a recent post from some of our “Alumni in Children’s Literature.”

As Kylie Kinley (MA ’13) explains in her contribution,

The K-State English Department is the opposite of the ivory tower stereotype. Instead, it’s a village of interdisciplinary experts who work together to help each student learn to read, write, research, adapt, and grow. Most of my teaching, critical thinking, and communication skills are from taking English classes at K-State. […] My ability to balance and engage with two different pathways at once definitely started with my dual children’s literature and creative writing experiences in the K-State English Department.

Enjoy hearing from some of our amazing M.A. alums — and, if you’re inspired by their stories, apply to join us this fall
