Observations: 1) K-State English has been attending the Kansas Association for Teachers (KATE) Conference for a number of years. The conference in 2023 included several graduate student presenters, including the ones pictured above: Jordan Dombrowski (MA ’24), Delaney Sullivan (MA ’24), and Ian Lutz (MA ’24). 2) Joined by undergraduate Sarah Synder, these graduate students organized a panel session titled “Multi-Ethnic Middle-Grade Readers: Growth, Nourishment, and Development of Diverse Voices In and Out of the Classroom.” 3) As faculty, we love to see our students share their scholarship with others, gaining professional experience beyond the classroom. The KATE Conference, held each fall in Wichita, offers a local opportunity for this kind of applied learning. 4) We’re grateful to our alumni and donors who, along with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School, support our students in these professional opportunities — and we look forward seeing everyone at KATE 2026 on October 30!
